Scoot2you Drink Driving Service.... Do you want a guarantee?
The Scoot2you Scooter Service, provides you with a little more certainty when getting yourself home safely, whilst at the same time avoiding the prospect of losing your license because you miss-judged just how much you have had to drink.
You can of course rely on the myth that you can drink two standard drinks in the first hour and one every hour thereafter and this is one way to avoid losing your license, but what certainty or guarantees does that come with?
NONE?
Lets educate a little...
The rate at which we all become intoxicated will differ from person to person. Why is this? This is because we are not all the same. The speed and level of your intoxication will depend on factors such as:
There is a relationship between the concentration of alcohol in the blood (The Blood Alcohol Concentration – BAC) and its effects. Mild euphoria and stimulation initially occur with minor effects on behaviours, which become more pronounced as the concentration of alcohol rises. Unfortunately, people often believe they are performing better rather than much worse. An important point to remember is that the alcohol does not just remain in the blood, it seeps into every cell and tissue in your body.
All of these factors will determine how intoxicated you become, how quickly and just how pronounced your behaviour will be.
Interestingly, the speed at which we all become sober, will not be reliant on the same factors. In fact, the speed at which we all become sober will be pretty much the same for us all. Approximately, 10% of the alcohol you consume will leave your body through perspiration, breath and other bodily fluids. Approximately, 90% of the alcohol is oxidized and removed through the liver, your body’s natural filter.
The problem is, that you won’t lose the alcohol at the same rate you are drinking it. In a person of average build, one standard drink raises the BAC by approximately 0.01-0.048% in one hour. (For a male of approximately 81 Kilos one mid strength beer with of 0.2% BAC will take approximately 35 minutes per 0.1% BAC to exit the body) So, that’s approximately 70 minutes for the alcohol in one mid strength beer to have left your body.
So how long would it take for a full strength beer containing 4.5% alcohol, to leave your body? By using these measures, it makes the loose rule of thumb of two standard drinks in the first hour with one every hour thereafter a poor rule of thumb to work to.
Let’s face it, you really only can get two guaranteed results when you’ve been drinking:
Creating an environment where you can relax and enjoy the ride
